Founded in 2018 by Dr. Lisa Kemmerer, Tapestry is an information sharing nonprofit designed for scholars and activists. Tapestry operates from the understanding that oppressions are neither separate nor distinct from one another nor from any other community belief or expression: All things exist in relation to and in conjunction with one another. (To use a Zen Buddhist concept, oppressions inter-are.)

Tapestry works for change through three interconnected channels: scholarship (including research and writing, mentoring, and presentations), direct action, and art. Engaging with ideas and people, Tapestry fosters a wider and deeper peace rooted in compassion.
